For over 10 years now, NKG (Neumann Kaffee Gruppe) has been active in coffee related international development cooperation through project work and collaboration with prominent national and international organization. The group's collective experience is now being channeled into the NKG Partnership for Sustainability program which was founded in 2002 to enhance the structure and focus of the group's initiatives in this increasingly important field. The program embraces a number of specific activities and maintains strategic alliances with public and private partners. In view of the complex challenge facing the coffee sector, this program offers a realistic platform for the group and others in the coffee chain enabling an evolution towards sustainability.
The individual components of the NKG Partnership for Sustainability and the initiatives that are being developed address in varied ways economic efficiency and success, social responsibility and environmental protection. The ultimate intention of the program is to always contribute effectively to the promotion of the concept of sustainability in the coffee sector. Presently, the initiatives under the NKG Partnership for Sustainability are classified as follows:
Outside of the group's core business the "Hanseatische Natur- und Umweltinitiative e.V." (Hanseatic Nature and Environmental Initiative) sponsors and follows projects to protect and conserve natural resources.
